Winged creatures, so-called demons, are a typical element of Etruscan art. They can be found on wall paintings and everyday objects, but above all on urns. One function of these mythical winged creatures was probably to accompany the deceased to the realm of the dead. Dr Nadine Leisner finds depictions of Etruscan demons in the Academic Art Museum at the University of Bonn, where there is not only an extensive archive of journals and specialist literature on Etruscan art and culture, but also a large collection of Etruscan, Attic and Ionic ceramics, whose styles, forms and motifs can be compared with one another.
