In his talk Guido Hausmann offers a survey of significant publications on Ukrainian history and compares scholarship on Ukraine written in Germany and North America. Despite the steady globalization of Ukrainian historiography and the rising political and regional significance of Ukraine in the contemporary world, the successful re-writing of European history from a Ukrainian perspective requires the integration of global historiographical trends into Ukrainian historiography and greater cooperation between German and Ukrainian scholars.
